COLORING PATTERNS, 47-50: After the students begin to color in the squares, they may see the pattern and continue to color without the aid of the math balance.

ADDITION PROBLEM SOLVING, 51-58: Students are to place one weight on each weight diagram. For activity 51, the student is to attempt to balance the numbers 1-10 with four weights—three of which can be put on 1 and the remaining one on 6. Not all of the numerals can be balanced with the weights specified, in which case students are to circle those that can be balanced.
