SUMMER VOLUNTEERS — Their students would never believe it, but 32 Pre-K through sixth-grade teachers willingly became students themselves for a three-week course in a new method of teaching math.

Dr. Paul Shoecraft’s program, called MOVE IT, has gained national recognition as one of the most innovative teaching methods and GISD has the largest teacher commitment of any of the four districts involved in the project.

GISD has also been asked to serve as a model district for teachers from throughout Texas and the US to come and observe the program’s effectiveness.

The classes are being held in the North Avenue cafeteria.
